I traveled to Sacramento to attend the International Food Bloggers Conference in July, 2016. We toured an endive farm and pear orchard. Read the details of this interesting trip. All in all, it was an awesome experience.
A few weeks ago I took a few days and traveled to Minnesota’s North Shore. And
anyone who knows me, knows this is my favorite plate to visit in Minnesota. The state’s topography is so different. Living on the southern prairie and visiting the Northwoods – all within 5 hours.
Vietnam . . . Amazing . . . Breathtaking . . . Surreal . . .
Just a few words that many of us from the MARL Class VIII were thinking, saying and feeling about our trip to Vietnam. Our MARL (Minnesota Ag Rural Leadership) group are some of Minnesota’s finest ag leaders and I could not be any prouder than to be a part of this group.
Duluth, located on Lake Superior in northern Minnesota, is one of my favorite places to visit! Why? It’s a place I can let myself go and forget just about everything. It is a peaceful and relaxing place to get away from the busyness of life. We try to visit Duluth when we can fit it into our schedule, even if it’s only for a few days. By car, it’s about a five hour, well worth the trip. But the true beauty in Duluth is well worth the trip.
A family vacation always yield learning lessons! And this year was no exception! We all had a great time making lots of memories, but we also learned a few things . . .
I recently took a trip to Florida and Seaside was part of our itinerary. I have never been to Seaside and I found it to be a very interesting place! Here is my perspective. Enjoy!

One of my favorite things I like about Canal Park in Duluth is the number of activities there is to do within a short walking distance. On July 4th, we walked to Bayfront Park and watched some of the free music entertainment. The one act I was looking forward to was Nicolas David. If you are a fan of “The Voice”, Nicolas David participated two seasons ago. He was one of the finalists and had quite a following. I believe people liked him because he was a unique singer and he stayed true to himself. And I liked him because of that and he was also from Minnesota. His song renditions were very original . . .
Do you have a bucket list? Don’t you love the feeling when you can check off an item on your bucket list? On the top of my bucket list was to visit Washington DC. And yes, this past week, I got my marker out and checked it off!
Who doesn’t love fairs? The food . . . the entertainment . . . the exhibits. I have a hard time deciding what I like best. My county fair does a fantastic job, but it has nothing on the grandaddy of them all – the Minnesota State Fair. So what is there to do at the State Fair? Here is my short and to the point “must do” list for the Minnesota State Fair – “Ag Style.”
